The CEC Engineering and Robotic Society

The Central Educational Center Engineering Society (CEC-ES) was organized in the fall of 2006 as a student oriented, extra-curricular youth organization to serve the needs of engineering, drafting, and robotic team members who wanted to learn more about the field of engineering and had an interest in competing in engineering related events.  The name was amended from the CEC Engineering Society to the CEC Engineering and Robotic Society (CEC E&RS) during the summer of 2007.

National Engineering Design Challenge (Fall and Spring)

TEAMS (Spring)

Activities

Two of the four big competitive events we participate in are BEST Robotics, VEX Robotics, and TEAMS (see list above).

Best Robotics is a design and construct competition that takes place during the fall for six weeks in which team members must design and build a robot that performs a certain task The problem changes every year which just adds to the fun. In addition to building the robot there are many other aspects of the event for team members to get involved in. Participation is not limited to just those who are interested in robotics. To be competitive we also need drafters, graphic designers, webmasters, writers, speakers, and a host of others.

VEX Robotics is a design and construct competition that takes place all over the world during the fall and spring.  Team members are given a challenge and using the VEX Robotics System design and build a robot that can best handle that year's challenge.

Some of the other events we get involved in are industrial tours and guest speakers.

Part of what we do also involves leadership, community service, fund raising, and having fun.

Dues

No Dues.

Fund Raisers

We normally have one fund raiser a year, Vidalia Sweet Onions, is in the spring around the end of April. It help us to offset our biggest expenses, competitive event supplies and lodging.

Meetings Times

We meet as necessary.  The meeting usually involve those who are in whatever event is going on at the time.

Requirements

You do not have to be attending classes at CEC in order to be a member of the CEC Engineering and Robotic Society. All you have to do is have an interest in engineering, drafting, or robotics. We are open to anyone that wants to be a member.
